It's Raining Money

So yesterday i actually made money because it rained at the cricket! Betfair have a market on if the match will be completed or not and with the players off for rain and the possibility of them returning uncertain, there was a lot of activity in this market with over $500,000 traded.
Although i made money by the game being abandoned (they actually came back on for half an hour or so but had to go off for good when it started raining again) i would have made more from my bet on Pakistan to win the match as they would have won easily had the match been completed. In one day cricket the golden rule is always bet against England as they are truely terible at the shortened form of the game.To update you on the weekend's golf; Tiger eventually won in a playoff but his game wasn't really on and i think he's feeling it a bit after playing in an almost super human manner the last few weeks.
He's a short priced favourite again this week in a much worse field so i won't be laying him but won't be backing him either. I'll probably just do some three balls when the tournament starts on Friday.

On a seperate note Mansion are doing a promotion whereby if you bet $1,100 on the Steelers in their first game against the Dolphins they'll refund your bet if they don't win. Needless to say i have already taken them up on this offer and can't wait for the game next Thursday.

Sunday Sports Update

So Andrea (my wife) is in Costa Rica for work for a week so it's just me, Scrappy and sports all weekend.

On Friday i went 4 and 0 in my golf 3-balls which i haven't done for a while, but Tiger is currently 2 clear with 3 holes to play and looking good for his fourth win in a row. I managed to do a bit of trading on Betfair and only have a small liability on him now so it's not too bad.

After Arsenal and Spurs both got beat yesterday i was pulling for Chelsea pretty hard this morning to make me level on the weekend's soccer. They duly obliged with a comfortable 2-0 victory. When i get a bit excited and shout at the TV Scrappy comes running because he thinks i'm shouting at him. I try to explain that nothing's wrong and i'm actually happy because Chelsea have scored but i don't think he understands!

Played poker again last night at the Marriott and picked up another $300. It could have been more but i shouldn't complain. I'll probably play again tonight if there's a game.

EPL 8/26 & 8/27

Here are my picks for this weekend:

Sat 26

Tottenham V Everton
Tottenham -0.5 and -1
1 unit @ 1.952 (Pinnacle)

Man City V Arsenal
Arsenal -0.5 and -1
1 unit @ 1.909 (Pinnacle)

Sun 27

Blackburn V Chelsea
Chelsea -1
2 units @ 1.952 (Pinnacle)

I think that Mourinho's men will bounce back from the shock midweek defeat at Middlesbrough and give Blackburn a real hiding.

My team (Liverpool) have an early kick-off again which will deprive me of my beauty sleep for the 07.45 start time.

Bridgestone Invitational Golf

The second round is just getting underway and i have made four 3-Ball bets:

Laid Mickelson against Hensby and Ames (To lay means i'm betting against them)
Laid Immelman against Browne and Cabrera
Laid Donald against Johnson and M. Campbell
Backed Love against Takahashi and Short

After the first round Adam Scott is leading on -7. Tiger shot -3 and is in good position. I could trade out of my lay bet on Tiger for no loss but i think i'll leave it and see how today's play goes.

On a different topic i played B&M (Brick and Mortar) poker last night at the Marriott. It was the best $5/$10 No Limit game i've seen for a while. I was stuck early on but made a great call for a lot of money on the river with only top pair going on a read i had on my opponent which proved to be correct. I ended the session up about $250.

Depending on Tiki

As expected my #4 first round pick in last night's fantasy draft was the Giants running back Tiki Barber. Although he's getting on in years and has a bit of wear and tear i'm hoping he can deliver the goods again this season.
My full lineup is as follows.

Starters:
QB Jake Delhomme CAR
RB Tiki Barber NYG
RB Brian Westbrook PHI
WR Hines Ward PIT
WR Santana Moss WAS
WR Joey Galloway TB
TE Todd Heap BAL
DST Bears CHI
K David Akers PHI

Reserves:
QB Ben Rothlisberger PIT
RB Lawrence Maroney NE
RB Ron Dayne DEN
WR Laveranues Coles NYJ
WR Robert Ferguson GB
WR Reche Caldwell NE

I think i have a well rounded team and hopefully they'll all stay healthy and have a shot at winning the league. I tried a few sleeper picks with my reserves in Maroney, Caldwell and Dayne and think one of them should break out at some point in the season.

Tiger Troubles

At the British Open i backed Tiger at the handsome price of 6/1 and collected a nice payday.

Last week i laid him at 5/2 in the PGA because it was a long course and i though he would have trouble driving it there. Oh well, nevermind.

So this week he's less than 2/1 and i've laid him again. Surely he can't win in 4 tournaments in a row?

Happy Days In Paris

Here's an old picture i found from when i won the 300 EUR Pot Limit Omaha tournament in Paris. So far it is my only major tournament win, but it wont be my last.

Pre 1st NFL Fantasy Draft

So in about half an hour is my first NFL fantasy draft of the season. It's a $200 league for members of the 2+2 Sports Betting forum.

I have the #4 pick which will almost certainly mean Tiki Barber in Round 1 as Johnson, Alexander and Tomlinson are sure to go with the first three picks. Picking at number 4 and 7 when it snakes the order means i probably wont get the #1 player at any position so will look to get a solid team in all positions rather than a star QB or WR. As the saying goes there is no I in team and TO definately wont be on my roster.

This will be good practice for my more important $400 work league which will carry a lot of bragging rights.

Early Season Soccer

So the soccer season is underway and i've had a profitable couple of days betting some Champions League qualifying games and the EPL.
Yesterday i backed Milan on the moneyline and Valencia and Benfica on the asian handicap line for 3-0.
Today i layed Man City and Blackburn (both favourites at home) on Betfair on the moneyline and backed Ajax and AEK on the asian handicap for 3-1 with Ajax suffering a shock home defeat by FC Copenhagen.
I've also had a futures bet on Liverpool to win the EPL at 9/1 and was very happy to see hot favourites Chelski lose today.
All-in-all a promising start to the new season.
